Virtual Health Fair: How Does It Work?

Our virtual health fair is available for you and today we want to share with you the functionalities of this on-demand fair.

My Health Fair aims to connect English and Spanish-speaking audiences with public-private healthcare organizations to inform them of available coverage services.

My Health Fair’s mission is to overcome language barriers and low health literacy among at-risk and hard-to-reach populations in Massachusetts.

Who runs the virtual health fair?

Romina Wilmot is the creator and team leader of My Health Fair; she has a cutting-edge understanding of the healthcare ecosystem in the state of Massachusetts.

Her focus is on improving the quality of life and health of the Latino community.

In 2020 when we were unaware of the impact of the COVID19 pandemic, Romina brought to fruition a project she had been working on for a few years and launched My Health Fair.

This is a health fair where the participants are the main health organizations and social service providers.

In this way, our visitors can learn about the coverage services and resources available from the comfort of their home and through a mobile device.

Why a virtual health fair?

My Health Fair (MHF) has been created with the purpose of breaking down the barriers to access health services for the Latino community.

These barriers are due to lack of information, misconceptions, language, concerns about immigration status or even diminish their chances of obtaining citizenship or the likelihood that their family members can immigrate to the United States.

Additionally, thanks to our experience, we are a strategic ally of organizations that wish to disseminate and give visibility to their programs and resources for the benefit of the health of the Latino community.

Virtual Health Fair: How Does It Work

What are we looking for?

To be a meeting point between the community and health and social service providers.

This way we increase visibility and growth with impact on health outcomes and literacy in communities that currently lack knowledge and resources.

We want more organizations to join us by participating with a virtual table at My Health Fair to showcase their programs.

They can also give visibility to their projects and resources to reach more people in the community.

Who is paying for the virtual health fair?

My Health Fair is a legally incorporated company and its resources come from the organizations that participate in the virtual fair.

Their participation is through a table where they expose the most relevant information, as well as resources, job offers, among others.

We permanently give visibility to our exhibitors through an organic strategy oriented to communities in need of literacy and health resources.

Does the information on the site favor the sponsor?

It favors the participants to the extent that, through the Fair, we give visibility to information, programs and resources that benefit the community.

It also benefits the community because we share valuable information through our blogs, videos and downloads in a simple and easily accessible way for everyone.

Today we have seven virtual desks where services are offered, information is provided, and visitors can contact a bilingual professional.

Our strategic alliance with El Mundo Boston, the newspaper with the largest circulation and Latino audience in the area, has made it easier for us to promote the virtual health fair so that more and more people have access to the health resources available.

We curate health information to make it easy to read and understand.

Each article is reviewed for readability and SEO (search engine optimization). Then, we get our content to our audience through our different channels.

The information we share in our content comes from reliable sources and mainly from the resources offered by our exhibitors at the virtual fair.

The videos and interviews on a topic of interest to the community are made by experts and spokespersons of the invited organizations.

Our mission is to disseminate information and resources available to address language barriers and increase health literacy so that more and more people have access to health services.

Is the virtual health fair up to date?

Yes, we are constantly generating content and using strategies both to reach a wider audience and to satisfy the concerns and needs of our niche.

On the other hand, we have made:

  • Technological and design adjustments to make the platform more accessible and user-friendly.
  • Measuring the impact of the networking strategy with a focus on vendor metrics derived from visits.
  • Generation of valuable content on topics of interest to the community, accompanied by videos and material provided by vendors.
