Alzheimer’s Professionals: Conference to Develop Their Skills
Alzheimer’s professionals and those who work with people with Alzheimer’s know that this is a challenging but also very rewarding task.
These professionals require a variety of skills including communication, empathy, patience, problem solving, and being willing to take their time and work at the other person’s pace.
For this reason, the Alzheimer’s Association MA/NH Chapter will be holding the virtual conference for dementia care professionals on April 3 from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm.
It is essential to create a positive and trusting relationship between the caregiver and the person with dementia.
This is to understand the person’s needs and respond appropriately, creating a safe and comfortable environment for the person with the disease.
With the right skills and attitude, a caregiver can make a significant difference in the quality of life of a person with Alzheimer’s disease.
Alzheimer’s professionals: developing skills for working with people with Alzheimer’s disease
This program is designed to provide you with an in-depth understanding of the challenges involved in dementia care.
It also seeks to develop practical skills that will enable you to provide effective care and support to people living with Alzheimer’s disease.
Focus of the Conference for Alzheimer’s Professionals
The focus is to provide a comprehensive understanding of the disease, its causes, symptoms and stages.
The idea is to delve into communication strategies, active listening, problem solving and empathic care techniques.
This in order to help improve the quality of life of people with the disease.
With a panel of participants with dementia, attendees of the virtual event will be able to learn firsthand, the path that patients with the disease have traveled.
Likewise, they will be able to learn about their experiences creating positive interactions that allow them to acquire tools to accompany Alzheimer’s patients.
Personalized approach to addressing daily living activities
The program offers a variety of tools and strategies for professionals and caregivers to help people with Alzheimer’s disease manage their daily lives.
It also provides memory aids, medication management and design of simplified environments so that people can easily navigate a seemingly unfamiliar space.
Management of dementia-related behavior
Assertive techniques to develop a personalized plan to help patients with their emotions and feelings.
In this way, it is possible to reduce anxiety, depression and in general to manage behavior.
With a team of experts in the disease, the program offers a collaborative and supportive learning environment where experiences and points of view will be shared with other participants.
The program includes live translation in Spanish: attendees will have the option to choose Spanish as their preferred language and listen to live translation in their language.
This is at a reduced cost of $40 and continuing education credits will include nursing CE.
