Five Years of My Health Fair: What Can Change When Health Information Reaches the Community
Five years ago, My Health Fair was born from a simple but necessary idea:
To make health information and resources easier to find and understand for communities across Massachusetts.
The project began in 2020, at a time when the pandemic was changing the way people searched for information and accessed services.
What initially took shape as a virtual health fair evolved into a bilingual platform that connects communities, health organizations, and service providers throughout the year.
Five years later, the question is no longer simply how My Health Fair began.
The question is:
What has happened since then, and what impact can be measured?
From a Virtual Health Fair to a Year-Round Resource
The original idea was to create a meeting point between organizations that offer services and the people who need to know about them.
The platform has allowed organizations to share and communicate information about their programs and resources, while families have been able to access that information from a phone or any other device.
The mission was connected to barriers that remain important for many communities:
Language, the difficulty of navigating the health care system, lack of information, and the need to find reliable resources in an easy-to-understand format.
Over time, My Health Fair became more than just a virtual health fair.
It also became a space for content, interviews, articles, resources, and digital communication.
Today, that evolution can be seen across different channels: the website, blog, social media, newsletter, and WhatsApp channel.
✅ 504 articles published since 2020.
✅ Nearly 15 virtual tables that have participated in the fair.
✅ 140 Massachusetts communities/cities reached from January through August 2026.
Five Years Also Mean Five Years of Information
An important part of My Health Fair’s work has been transforming information that is often presented in technical language into content that people can understand and use.
That work has covered health topics, social services, mental health, senior care, MassHealth, immigration, and community resources, among others.
In 2026, content published on the site has addressed topics including:
- Alzheimer’s disease
- Cancer
- Mental health
- Chronic conditions
- Clinical trials
- Health tips
- Resources for immigrant families
- Access to technology for older adults
- Changes to health coverage
- Federal benefits, among others.
Website data shows that during the first eight months of 2026, My Health Fair recorded:
✅ 12,232 total visitors/users from January–August 2026.
✅ 13,608 total visits/sessions from January–August 2026.
✅ 16,370 total page views from January–August 2026.
Some of the articles published during this period also show how audiences are looking for practical information.
✅ 7,950 total blog visits from January–August 2026.
These numbers are not just numbers.
Each visit represents an opportunity for someone to find a resource, learn about a service, or discover information that can help them navigate part of the health care system.
The Impact Also Extends Beyond the Website
My Health Fair’s work does not happen only on myhealthfair.com.
The platform has developed a strategy that combines digital content, social media, newsletters, media outlets, and partnerships with organizations.
One of those partnerships has been with El Mundo Boston, which has helped bring health content to a broader Latino community audience.
✅ Approximately 156 articles published/republished in El Mundo Boston since 2023, including approximately 32 so far in 2026.
✅ Boston, Lawrence, Cambridge, and Revere: Massachusetts cities with the highest reach on LinkedIn, Facebook, and Instagram.
Interviews and conversations have also been developed with organizations and professionals to address issues that directly affect communities.
The approach behind this work has remained consistent:
Rather than waiting for people to find a service by chance, bring useful information to the places where they are already looking for answers.
That reach has also been possible thanks to a group of media outlets that, over these five years, have opened their platforms to bring health content closer to the community:
- La Mega 96.5 FM
- Telemundo New England
- Acceso Total New England
- D8A9 with Francis Concepción
- El Mundo Boston
- Univision New England
- La Cajita
- ¡Órale! with Verónica
Five Years, Different Ways of Reaching the Community
The evolution of My Health Fair can also be seen in the way it communicates with its audience.
Social media allows information to be distributed quickly.
The website brings resources and content together.
The newsletter maintains a more direct form of communication.
And the WhatsApp channel aims to provide short, actionable messages with information about phone numbers, links, events, and places where people can get help.
During the first eight months of 2026, My Health Fair’s digital platforms recorded:
✅ 113,613 total reach across LinkedIn, Facebook, and Instagram in 2026.
✅ 5,628 engagements across LinkedIn, Facebook, and Instagram in 2026.
✅ 44,100 video views on YouTube since 2023, including 3,800 views in 2026.
✅ 684,800 YouTube reach since 2023, including 29,400 reach in 2026.
Website reports from 2026 show that My Health Fair received users from different cities across Massachusetts, as well as traffic coming from media outlets and digital searches.
✅ More than 100 Massachusetts cities identified in the reports.
The Work Behind the Platform
Five years of digital presence also mean five years of work behind every piece of content.
In one of the first articles dedicated to the My Health Fair team, the project was described as work that combines project management, content creation, digital marketing, translation, and SEO.
That combination continues to be part of the model.
Because for someone to find health information, it is not enough for the information to exist.
It has to be available.
It has to be findable.
It has to be understandable.
And, especially for bilingual and multicultural communities, it has to be presented in a way that makes sense within their everyday reality.
Five Years of Collaboration
Another element that has accompanied My Health Fair’s evolution is its work with organizations.
Partners such as Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Alzheimer’s Association, Careforth, United Healthcare Community Plan, the Massachusetts Hispanic Dental Association (MAHDA), and Ferreras Counseling & Wellness Center, among others, have used the platform to bring their programs and resources closer to the community.
That work also extends to in-person health fairs held each year in cities such as Boston, Lawrence, Chelsea, Lynn, Revere, Springfield, and Worcester.
There, My Health Fair connects these organizations with communities seeking health services.
Rather than presenting these figures as a list of achievements, the anniversary offers an opportunity to look at what they represent: a network of collaboration built over five years.
2026: Another Chapter in the My Health Fair Story
My Health Fair’s fifth anniversary also coincides with another milestone:
In 2026, our founder, Romina Wilmot, was selected as part of the 2026 cohort — the program’s third cohort — of the Public Health Communications Collaborative (PHCC) Ambassador Program.
It is a national community of 82 professionals dedicated to strengthening public health communication in the United States.
The recognition is not only an individual milestone: it connects the work MHF does in Massachusetts with a network of public health communicators across the country.
It also reinforces MHF’s role as a reference point for multicultural health communication in the state.
Five Years Later, the Question Remains the Same
When My Health Fair began, the challenge was clear: how to bring health information closer to people who often face barriers to finding, understanding, or using it.
Five years later, the tools are different and the reach is greater.
But the fundamental question remains:
How do we make health information easier to find, understand, and use?
The next set of data will help tell part of that story.
✅ 172,221: total combined reach of the website, blog, newsletter, and social media (LinkedIn, Facebook, and Instagram) since 2020.
✅ 228 cities/communities reached across Massachusetts.
✅ More than 50 bilingual organizations, providers, and experts/professionals.
And the voices of those who have worked alongside My Health Fair over these five years will help tell the other part.
Because five years are not just a date.
They are five years of content, collaborations, conversations, resources, and connections that make it possible to look back and ask what has been built — and where the work can go next.
