My Health Fair celebrates its first year serving the Latino community

My Health Fair: What it does for the community

My Health Fair was born after identifying certain gaps and needs on the part of the Latino community in the area of health care in the state of Massachusetts.

Although Massachusetts has consistently been one of the most prosperous states in the U.S., for some communities financial hardship and health care disparities are notorious.

This includes the Latino community.

Also notable are the differences in educational and economic opportunities for the Latino community in Massachusetts compared to Latinos nationwide.

What is our purpose?

Our purpose at My Health Fair is to break down barriers to health care access for the Latino community.

This situation has stemmed from lack of information, misconceptions, language, concern about immigration status and fear of being reported to immigration authorities.

This could also decrease their chances of obtaining citizenship or the likelihood that their family members will be able to immigrate to the United States.

My Health Fair: First Anniversary

In this first year of My Health Fair we have focused on convening the most important health organizations and institutions that focus their efforts on supporting and educating the Latino community.

In this way, they can access not only health services but also the benefits available to everyone in the Massachusetts community.

Today we have seven virtual tables where services are offered, information is provided, and visitors can contact a bilingual professional.

Our alliance with El Mundo Boston has facilitated the promotion of the virtual health fair so that more and more people have access to the health resources available.

This is the newspaper with the largest circulation and Latino audience in the area.

We invite you to celebrate with us!
